Ruth Kelly
Ruth is originally from Stoke, Coventry. She moved with her family to Scarborough in 1988 and started singing in the local choir and holiday parks at the tender age of nine. She returned to Coventry a couple of years ago to progress her music career, considering ongoing support from BBC CWR. Fast forward to 2022 and Ruth is performing at venues across the U.K. She works solo and with keyboard player Mark Russell. Last year Ruth performed for BBC Introducing on their stage at The Big Feastival and on the BBC C.W.R stage at the Godiva festival. Recently she was selected as a finalist for a new opportunity with ‘Love + Madness’ record label in Coventry and is delighted to have recorded a track on their first E.P which will be released in January 2023. Ruth has never had support from a label before and is excited to see where this takes her. Her music style and tone is influenced by the popular songs of the 90’s which she grew up with and the sounds of the new millennium. She delivers hugely enjoyable live vocal performances to a wide-ranging audience as her career continues to gather both strength and momentum.
She will be releasing further material at the beginning of 2023 and has been working hard on some new material with her producer in London. Ruth shares her story and struggles with listeners to inspire them encourage them to fight for their dreams.
Ruth has focused on live shows and recording this year so is super excited for her new music to be released. Her last release was November 2021 ‘ I don’t have you ‘ which was written in memory of a close friend’s daughter who lost her life to suicide at only 17′ Chelsea Blue’. She says ‘ I will never have the words to say but this song will always be close to my heart. I am dedicated to raising awareness of suicide and talking about the subject whenever I can, in the hope it will help others.’
